City Game Rotterdam Cube houses

Cube Houses

Dutch architect Piet Blom designed these houses in the late 70s. He wanted to build a kind of village with houses shaped like trees. They built 32 cubes in total in Rotterdam’s Blaak district. Some houses are still inhabited, while others are open to the public. It is definitely worth a visit!

Market Hall

Queen Máxima inaugurated the Market Hall in 2014. It’s a revolutionary building consisting of offices, apartments and a market hall. Remarkably, during the construction of the underground car park, they discovered remains of a settlement from the 10th and 14th centuries. So, what food are you going to try? This market has something for everyone!

City Game Rotterdam Central station

Rotterdam Central Station

You can see Rotterdam’s architectural culture immediately when you get off the train: Central Station (finished in 2010). The station is also sustainable, as it is powered by solar panels. One part of the building exudes a 19th-century style based on austerity, while the other part is modern in which steel and light come to the fore.

Erasmus Bridge

One of the most famous bridges, designed by Dutch architect Ben van Berkel (in the late 90s), is dedicated to the city. The nearly 800-meter-long bridge connects each bank of the river Maas with a structure that reminds many of a swan. Do you see a swan in this as well? You can go for a walk over the bridge and see the skyline of Rotterdam.

City Game Rotterdam Euromast

Euromast

While the Eiffel Tower was built in Paris for a world exhibition, the Euromast in Rotterdam was built for the Floriade in 1960; the horticultural exhibition in Rotterdam that year. The tower is 180 meters high, therefore you can see Antwerp (Belgium) on clear days. The view is definitely worth it, so go and enjoy the beautiful cityscape!
