Why visit Frankfurt? Why with a City Game?
The Maintower in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The building is 200 meters high, but with the transmission tower it measures 240 meters. The design of the skyscraper appears to be that of two towers connected to each other.
Of these two towers, the smaller one is cubic in shape, based on a design common in 1970s architecture.
TRÖMERis a medieval building that was sold to the city council by the aforementioned Römer family.
During World War II it suffered multiple damages, but was later rebuilt and restored to its former splendor. So you can imagine what the walls and nooks and crannies of this important historical building in Frankfurt have seen.
Hammering Man is a series of monumental kinetic sculptures by Jonathan Borofsky.
The two-dimensional painted steel sculptures were designed at different scales (from approximately 12 feet to 49 feet high), were painted black, and depict a man with a motorized arm and hammer movement to symbolize workers throughout the world.
The former observation tower fell victim to arson in October 2017 and left an open wound in the city forest and in the hearts of Frankfurt's inhabitants.
The reconstruction of this, was carried out using a structure consisting mainly of sweet chestnut glulam beams.
