Trace a detective murder case on foot through the old town of Dubrovnik, along the Stradun and the lanes beneath the walls.

Balthasar was murdered in Dubrovnik. No incident room, no colleagues, no forensics - just you, a phone and the streets he was last seen in.

It is a murder mystery game in outdoor form. You walk Dubrovnik, the story comes to meet you, and every location holds a puzzle, a code or a photo task that crosses another name off the suspect list. Self-guided from the first step: you pick the day, you pick the hour, you set the pace.

The case takes you past Philosophers’ Way, Fort Lovrijenac and Rector's Palace.

The Walk Through Dubrovnik

St. Blaise's Church and Walls of Dubrovnik come into it too. Expect 3 to 4 km on foot, at whatever speed suits the slowest member of the group.

Playing the Detective Game in Dubrovnik

You move, the case moves. Each stop has something to solve and each digital character has something to say once you have solved it, and the suspect list shortens accordingly. Figure on 1.5 to 2 hours across 3 to 4 km, with as many breaks as you feel like taking. The reasoning runs the way it does in a Sherlock Holmes story: small observations first, the accusation last.

For Families, Friends and Teams in Dubrovnik

With friends. Four people, one phone, one case. Somebody will back the wrong suspect early and refuse to let it go, and that is the part everyone remembers.

With your team. Split into fours, buy a ticket each, and send them off on the same murder. Team building without a facilitator, a venue or a start time - and in Dubrovnik that means nobody has to be anywhere by nine.

With kids. Eight years old is about the floor. The distance is not the problem it sounds like, the photo tasks are where children beat adults outright, and the codes end up being solved by the whole family at once.

Before You Book

How does the murder mystery game work?

Everything sits in the Loquiz app. Start it wherever you like in Dubrovnik, follow what the case tells you, solve what each location puts in front of you, and hand in a name when you are sure.

How long does it take?

Set aside an afternoon. The case itself takes 1.5 to 2 hours across 3 to 4 km, but nothing counts down and nothing shuts, so the breaks are free.

How many people can play on one ticket?

Four people per ticket, one phone between them, €19.95. A group of ten takes three tickets and turns into three teams, which is more fun than crowding one screen.

Do we need to book a time?

Just a date. The hour is yours to choose, because nobody is standing anywhere in Dubrovnik expecting you - no meeting point, no guide, no group.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, from about eight. The difficulty is easy, the walking is gentle, and children tend to be the fastest in the group at the photo tasks.

What happens if it rains?

Nothing forces you to keep walking. Duck into a cafe, let it pass and carry on when you feel like it - there is no time limit on any part of this.

Is this a detective game or a walking tour of Dubrovnik?

Both, in practice. You cover Dubrovnik on foot and you notice far more than you would on a normal walk, because the case gives you a reason to look closely at things you would otherwise pass.

What else is there to do in Dubrovnik?

The same streets carry other city games in Dubrovnik, each with its own story, and anyone travelling on will find the next stop under Croatia.

We really recommend it, well put together and a programme that fills an afternoon! We enjoyed it! But 1 person had bought two games and shared them, because we were in two groups. Could it be that they were linked to each other?

I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.
