Group games: teams against each otherCity Conquest
Race Through Berlin
Expected soon in Berlin
A city game where teams play against each other: at least 2 teams of 1–4 players, each team on its own phone.
- 2–20 teams
- 20 factions
How to play
1Explore
Walk through the real city. The map shows every zone:
free,
taken by a team in its colour, or
locked for a few minutes. The game starts at
.
2Conquer
Step into a zone, open its task and send your proof: an answer, a photo or a video. Get it right and the zone takes your colour
, and you earn 30 ducats
.
3Defend and take back
Other teams can take your zones once the lock
is over, and you can take theirs. A zone
stays with the team that conquers it. The first team at a bonus spot
gets a power-up in its backpack
.
4Final count
When the time is up, the team with the most points wins; with equal points, the most ducats
. Be at the meeting point
in time: the herald calls everyone together.
Every zone has a set of tasks about what you can really find there. Each team gets a different one, and a new one every time it comes back, so answers can't be passed on.
20 factions
Each team picks a faction: a group with its own story, strengths and characters.

Quadriga Charioteers
“Victory on four horses”
On top of the Brandenburg Gate the goddess of victory drives four horses, the Quadriga. Napoleon took her to Paris; Berlin took her back.

Wall Woodpeckers
“Chip by chip, it all came down”
In November 1989 Berliners came with hammers and chisels to chip pieces off the Wall: the 'Mauerspechte', wall woodpeckers.

Berlin Bears
“Bear-strong and friendly”
The bear has been Berlin's symbol for 750 years: on the coat of arms, as statues all over town and even on film prizes.

Cabaret Stars
“Lights up, Berlin!”
In the 1920s Berlin's cabarets were the wildest in Europe: songs, satire and glitter until morning.

Techno Ravers
“Dance till Monday”
After the Wall fell, Berlin's empty buildings became techno clubs. The city has danced through the weekend ever since.

Currywurst Cooks
“Extra sauce, extra points”
In 1949 Herta Heuwer sold the first currywurst in Berlin. Today Berliners eat about seventy million a year.

Huguenot Craftsmen
“Welcome made us strong”
After 1685 thousands of French Protestant refugees were welcomed in Berlin; they built the French Dome on the Gendarmenmarkt and brought new crafts.

Humboldt Explorers
“Measure the world”
Alexander von Humboldt measured mountains, rivers and stars; his brother Wilhelm founded Berlin's university in 1810.

Museum Island Curators
“Guardians of treasures”
Five world-class museums stand on Museum Island in the Spree, from ancient gates to Egyptian queens.

Airlift Pilots
“Sweets from the sky”
In 1948-49 planes flew food to West Berlin around the clock; some pilots dropped sweets on little parachutes for the children.

Philharmonic Musicians
“Every note in place”
The Berlin Philharmonic plays in a tent-shaped golden hall; it's one of the most famous orchestras in the world.
Babelsberg Film Crew
“Lights, camera, Berlin”
Near Berlin the Babelsberg studios made Metropolis in 1927; Berlin's film festival still hands out golden bears.

East Side Gallery Painters
“Paint the wall, change the world”
In 1990 artists from all over the world painted 1.3 km of the Wall by the Spree: the East Side Gallery.

Spree Skippers
“Downstream and ahead”
Barges and tour boats have sailed the Spree through the centre since Berlin began as two trading towns on its banks.

Pneumatic Post Clerks
“Faster than a letter”
From 1865 Berlin sent letters through 400 km of air tubes under the streets: the Rohrpost. The Museum for Communication keeps it.

Unter den Linden Strollers
“See and be seen”
Unter den Linden, the boulevard of lime trees from the palace to the Brandenburg Gate, was where Berlin went to stroll and show off.

Salon Hostesses
“Every idea gets a chair”
Around 1800 Berlin salons, hosted by women like Rahel Varnhagen and Henriette Herz, gathered writers, scientists and thinkers.

Schinkel's Architects
“Columns, light and order”
Karl Friedrich Schinkel shaped Berlin in the 1800s: the Altes Museum, the Konzerthaus and the Neue Wache.
Reichstag Dome Climbers
“Transparent and on top”
Since 1999 the Reichstag has a glass dome with a spiral ramp; visitors walk up and look down into the parliament.
Berliner Weisse Brewers
“Red or green?”
Berliner Weisse is the city's own sour wheat beer, served in a big bowl glass with red or green syrup.
Ducats, chests and drops

Chests
Every 20 minutes the herald hides chests
in the streets. The first team within 30 m opens one: ducats
, a potion, a defence or something to leave for others.

The merchant
You start with 50 ducats
and earn more by conquering, holding zones and approved photos. Spend them at the merchant
: you can buy anywhere, and at his spot you get 20% off.

Drops and fog
Leave a bomb, trap, fog, curse or sabotage on the street
. Only your team sees it; the team that walks into it is hit. Fog
hides their map beyond 100 m. A scout
shows drops near you
: walk to one to defuse it.
Speed potionWait times and zone locks halved for 10 minutes.
Wisdom potionRemoves one wrong answer from your next multiple-choice question.
Strength potionYour next conquest scores double.
ShieldBlocks the next attack on your team (20 seconds to react).
MirrorSends the next attack straight back to the team that left it.
AntidoteEnds fog, a trap or a curse at once.
ScoutShows other teams' drops within 100 m for 2 minutes; walk to one to defuse it.
BombLeave it on the street: the team that walks into it loses 25 points.
TrapLeave it on the street: 3 minutes no conquering and no answering.
FogLeave it on the street: for 4 minutes their map shows only 100 m around them.
CurseLeave it on the street: on their next 2 questions a wrong answer costs double.
SabotageLeave it on the street: steals one thing from their backpack (or 30 ducats).

Two ways to play

Without a game master
You play on your own. The organiser opens the game master page, chooses the default language and the playing time, and starts the game. From then on everything runs by itself on every phone: the zones, the chests, the merchant and the final count.
Often chosen by companiesWith a game master
Someone leads the game from the game master page: follows every team live with its points and zones, sends messages to all teams, adds 15 minutes or stops the game, gives a team a power-up or puts a chest right next to it, and looks at the photos and videos. The game master never sees the answers.
€199.00 including 5 teams, €19.95 per extra team
The organiser sets up the game on the game master page (the default language and the playing time) and starts it for all teams.
Every player can pick and switch the language on their own phone.
