I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

A city where history turned on one corner

Few street corners carry as much weight as the one by the Latin Bridge. On 28 June 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were shot there, an event that led to the First World War.

Sarajevo's later history is just as heavy. During the siege of 1992 to 1996, the city was surrounded for almost four years, and the Vijećnica, the city hall that housed the national library, burned in August 1992 with much of its collection. Today it stands restored at the edge of the old town, and walking past it after dark is a quiet, thoughtful moment.

Halloween and autumn in Sarajevo

Halloween is not an old tradition in Bosnia and Herzegovina. You will find some costume parties among younger people, but most of the city simply carries on with its evening routine: coffee, the call to prayer and the smell of grilled food in the lanes.

That is exactly what makes a halloween Sarajevo walk special. Lamps come on in Baščaršija, the hills turn dark around the valley, and the old town feels like a stage for a mystery.

Your route through the old town

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Sarajevo starts near the Vijećnica and leads you into Baščaršija. On the way you see the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos and the Latin Bridge, and you question suspects and solve riddles as a team. Local lore says that whoever drinks from the Sebilj fountain will return to Sarajevo.
