I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How do Finns mark the end of October?
In Finland the big day is not 31 October but All Saints' Day, pyhäinpäivä. It falls on the Saturday between 31 October and 6 November. People light candles on the graves of their loved ones, and cemeteries glow with thousands of small lights in the dark.
Halloween itself arrived later, but it is now popular with children, students and bars, with costumes and carved pumpkins. Together the two give late autumn in Helsinki a quiet, slightly eerie mood.

Old stones and long shadows in Helsinki
Late October in Helsinki means short days, and by late afternoon the streetlights are on. Helsinki Cathedral rises white above Senate Square, and the dark granite and stone of the old centre feel very different after sunset.
Out in the harbour lies Suomenlinna, the sea fortress built in the 18th century when Finland was part of Sweden. It surrendered to Russia in 1808, and its walls and tunnels have seen centuries of soldiers, prisoners and war. Temppeliaukio Church, carved straight into the rock, adds another strange shape to the route.
Why a detective game makes a good halloween Helsinki outing
A murder case suits the season: you walk, think and look over your shoulder for clues in the dark. In Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Helsinki you pass Helsinki Cathedral, the Ateneum art museum and Temppeliaukio Church, with Suomenlinna part of the route.
You play in the free Loquiz app on one phone per team. It suits friends, couples, colleagues and families with older children. Our ghost game Ghost Hunters is coming to Helsinki. Leave your e-mail address on this page and we will let you know when it starts.
Price and the HALLOWEEN50 code
A game costs €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players. You book, choose your own day and time, and start from your phone. Larger groups play as several teams at once and compare who solved the case first.
Until 2 November the code HALLOWEEN50 gives 50% off all our games, so a dark autumn walk through the centre costs half the usual price. Bring a charged phone, gloves and a warm hat.
