I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which dark stories does Palermo tell?
Palermo's best known dark place is the Capuchin Catacombs, where for centuries the friars and later wealthy families had their dead dried and dressed, so rows of mummies still stand along the walls. The most famous is little Rosalia Lombardo, preserved so well in 1920 that visitors swear she looks asleep.
The city's patron, Santa Rosalia, is honoured because her bones were found during the plague of 1624 and carried through the streets, after which the epidemic is said to have ended. Old Palermo stories also talk about the Beati Paoli, a secret society that met in tunnels under the city and handed out its own justice at night.

How is halloween Palermo different from elsewhere?
In Sicily the old feast is not 31 October but the Day of the Dead on 2 November. Families visit graves, and children traditionally find small gifts and sweets that the dead are said to have left for them: marzipan fruit and painted sugar figures fill the pastry shops in the days before.
Halloween itself has arrived too, mostly with costumes for children and parties among friends. So a halloween Palermo outing can mix both: a dark walk through old streets on 31 October, and a taste of the local Festa dei Morti a couple of days later.
A murder mystery through Palermo after dark
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Palermo sends your team on foot through the old centre to solve a crime, at your own pace. On the way you pass the church of San Giuseppe Cafasso, the red domes of San Giovanni degli Eremiti and the massive Palazzo dei Normanni, then the State Archive of Palermo. In the early autumn darkness these old walls feel exactly right for a detective story.
