I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which ghost stories does Kuala Lumpur tell?
Kuala Lumpur's spooky side comes mostly from Malay folklore and Chinese traditions that live side by side in the city. The best known figure is the pontianak, the ghost of a woman in white who, people say, announces herself with the scent of frangipani. Many Chinese families also mark the Hungry Ghost Festival in the seventh lunar month, when offerings are left out and paper is burned for wandering spirits.
The city itself had a rough beginning. It grew in the 1850s from a tin mining settlement where the Klang and Gombak rivers meet, and many of the first miners died of disease in the swampy valley. Its name means muddy confluence. That history still feels close when you walk past old shophouses and temple gates at dusk.

What do you see on a spooky walk through Kuala Lumpur?
The Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Kuala Lumpur starts with the domes of the Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque, better known as Masjid Jamek. On the way you see the red lanterns of Thean Hou Temple, the National Museum of Malaysia and Sin Sze Si Ya Temple, linked to Yap Ah Loy, the Chinese leader who helped build early Kuala Lumpur.
You question witnesses, collect clues and solve the case together at your own pace. The walk takes 1.5–2 hours and you play with the free Loquiz app on one phone per team. In the evening the temple lights and busy streets give the case an extra edge, which makes it a good halloween Kuala Lumpur outing for friends, couples or colleagues.
How is Halloween celebrated in Kuala Lumpur?
Halloween is not a traditional Malaysian holiday. In Kuala Lumpur it is mostly celebrated with costume parties, popular with young people and expats. For many locals the spooky season belongs to other moments: the Hungry Ghost Festival, ghost films and the stories told about old buildings.
That makes a city game a nice alternative. Instead of a crowded party you walk through the streets as a team, read the city as a crime scene and look more closely at places you normally pass by.
