I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Old stories and dark corners of Fes

Fes is more than twelve centuries old, and that age is felt in every lane of Fes el-Bali, where cars cannot go and sounds echo between high walls. Across Morocco people tell of jinn, spirits made of smokeless fire, and of Aisha Qandisha, the feared spirit of rivers and wells. You will not find Halloween parties in the old town, because it is not a Moroccan tradition, but the medina after dark has its own spell.

The Mellah, the old Jewish quarter, owes its name to the Arabic word for salt. One explanation often told is grim: salt was used to preserve the heads of executed people before they were put on display. On the hill above the city, the ruined Merinid Tombs look down on it all.

Halloween Fes: what you see on the route

The Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Fes is a detective story based on Sherlock Holmes, played on foot through the medina. You answer questions, crack riddles and follow clues in the free Loquiz app on your phone.

On the way you pass the Dar Batha Museum, set in a palace with a quiet garden, and look out towards the Borj Nord Museum in its old fortress above the city. The route also brings you to the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II, resting place of the city's founder, and into the lanes of the Quartier Mellah. As dusk settles, the tiled arch of Bab Bou Jeloud glows against the dark sky. The game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and you start whenever you like.
