I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which dark stories does Alicante tell?

Alicante's best-known legend sits right above the city: the rock face of Mount Benacantil, below the Castle of Santa Bárbara, looks like the profile of a man and is called the Cara del Moro, the face of the Moor. After dark, with the castle lit up above the rooftops, it is easy to see why people tell stories about it.

The city also remembers harder times. The Panteó de Quijano honours a civil governor who stayed to help the city during a cholera epidemic in the 1850s and died of the disease himself. And Casa Carbonell, the grand white building on the seafront, comes with its own tale: the textile businessman Enrique Carbonell is said to have been turned away from a hotel for his shabby clothes, and built this palace as his answer.

How is Halloween celebrated in Alicante?

Halloween in Alicante mixes two traditions. Younger people and families with children have taken to costumes and parties around 31 October, while 1 November, All Saints' Day, is still a day when many Spanish families visit the graves of their relatives. Bakeries sell buñuelos and huesos de santo, small marzipan sweets shaped like bones.

For a halloween Alicante outing that is not just another party, a walk through the old streets at dusk works well. The air is mild, the alleys of the old town grow quiet and the castle glows on its hill. You move at your own pace as a group, and decide yourselves when to stop for tapas on the way.

Which city games can you play in Alicante?

Secrets of Alicante is played in the browser on your own phone, no app needed. In the story you help Cantara find Ali by following hidden clues through the city before time runs out. On the way you pass the fountain on Puerta del Mar Square, Casa Carbonell, the Town Hall and the old ficus trees of Gabriel Miró Square.

The Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Alicante is a detective game whose story is based on Sherlock Holmes, played in the free Loquiz app. You solve a murder on foot past the Monumento a Canalejas, Casa Carbonell, the Ayuntamiento de Alicante and the Teatro Principal.
