I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What dark legends does Barcelona have?

Barcelona's old centre is full of stories, and one of the best known hangs over a narrow street near the cathedral. Under the Pont del Bisbe, the stone bridge between two buildings on Carrer del Bisbe, a small skull pierced by a dagger is carved into the stone. Legend says that whoever pulls out the dagger will bring a curse on the city, so people look up, but nobody touches it.

Montjuïc Castle, on the hill above the port, has a darker past that is no legend. For long periods it served as a military prison, and in 1940 Lluís Companys, the president of the Catalan government, was executed there. Today it is a calm place with wide views, but its walls carry that history.

How does Barcelona celebrate the end of October?

Barcelona has its own autumn festival: La Castanyada, around 31 October and All Saints' Day on 1 November. Street stalls roast chestnuts and sweet potatoes, and bakeries fill their windows with panellets, small marzipan cakes often rolled in pine nuts. In recent years Halloween costumes and parties have joined in, especially among children and students.

That mix makes for a good halloween Barcelona evening: a bag of warm chestnuts in your hand, then a walk through the Barri Gòtic as the lamps come on. On 1 November many families also visit the graves of their loved ones, a quieter side of the season.

Which city games can you play in Barcelona?

Secrets of Barcelona is played in the browser on your own phone, no app needed. You help flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya recover her missing shoes, and the route takes you under the Pont del Bisbe, past the El Beso mosaic and along Carrer de Sant Pere Més Alt.

The Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Barcelona is a detective case whose story is based on Sherlock Holmes, played in the free Loquiz app. You work the case through the Barri Gòtic, starting at Plaça Nova beside the cathedral.
