I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What makes Manises special on an autumn evening?
Manises has made ceramics for centuries, and you see it everywhere: tiles on facades, workshops and kilns, and the pride of a town that once shipped its lustreware far beyond Spain. On a late-October evening, when the light goes early and the streets get quiet, those old walls feel full of stories.
We do not know of famous ghost legends told about Manises, so we will not make any up. What you do get is atmosphere: the stone arches of the old aqueduct, the parish church in the dark, and the sound of the Turia nearby. That is enough for a calm, slightly mysterious Halloween walk.

How is Halloween celebrated in Manises?
In Spain, Halloween has become popular in recent years, especially with children who dress up and with friends who go out on 31 October. The older tradition is the next day: 1 November, All Saints' Day, is a public holiday, and families visit cemeteries with flowers. Bakeries sell sweets for the season, such as buñuelos and huesos de santo.
So for halloween Manises gives you both: a bit of spooky fun on the evening itself and a long, quiet holiday weekend for a walk with family or friends.
Secrets of Manises: the route
In Secrets of Manises you discover the ceramic soul of the town. You follow the trail with Ceval Premi Ajura, cracking clues among tile-clad facades, lively plazas and the whispering Turia, to help the little muse find her way back to her creator, Juan Albalat. On the way you walk through Parque Los Filtros, pass the Manises Aqueduct Arches and the Railway Park, and reach the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista.
You play in the browser on your own phone, no app needed. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players. Our ghost game Ghost Hunters is coming to Manises: leave your e-mail address on this page to hear when it starts.
