I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Legends and naval history of Karlskrona

Karlskrona was founded in 1680 as the base of the Swedish navy, and much of that naval town still stands. Its best-known legend lives outside Amiralitetskyrkan, the large wooden church of the navy. There stands Rosenbom, a wooden figure of an old man holding out his hat for coins. In Selma Lagerlöf's story of Nils Holgersson, Rosenbom and the bronze statue of King Charles XI come to life at night and chase Nils through the empty streets.

In 1981 a Soviet submarine ran aground in the archipelago nearby, a strange Cold War night still talked about. Halloween has grown popular in Sweden, and on All Saints' Day weekend people light candles on graves, which glow in the dark churchyards.

Halloween Karlskrona: what you see on the way

The Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Karlskrona is a detective story based on Sherlock Holmes, played on foot in the free Loquiz app. You collect clues, answer questions and slowly close in on the killer.

The route passes Försvarsmakten Marinbasen, the naval base that gave the town its reason to exist, and leads you to Amiralitetskyrkan, where Rosenbom waits by the door. You also see Fredrikskyrkan, the baroque church on the square, and the old walls of Bastion Aurora by the water. Near the end the Naval Museum looks out over the harbour. The game takes 1.5 to 2 hours, and on an autumn evening the sea wind adds to the mood.
