Follow Magnus and the stolen formulas through Algeciras on foot, from the Plaza Alta to Plaza San Isidro, playing at your own pace.

Algeciras is the last known location of Magnus and the formulas he walked off with. From here the trail is yours to follow.

It is a city escape game that uses Algeciras itself as the board, played on your own phone and at whatever pace you set. The Loquiz app tracks where you are and hands you what belongs to that spot — a riddle, a code to break, a photograph to go and take. Everyone in the group plays a character with something to contribute, which is the part that keeps the whole group busy instead of one person.

Plaza Alta, Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Palma and Plaza San Isidro are on the route, and nothing stops between them: everything you have to find is in front of you rather than in the app.

Plaza Andalucía and Parque María Cristina are on the list too. Everyone works out soon enough that the useful detail is never the obvious one.

An Outdoor Escape Room Alternative in Algeciras

This is what an outdoor escape game buys you over the indoor kind: the same ciphers and the same locked-logic thinking, but the sky instead of a ceiling and real doorways instead of set dressing. You are not sealed into a room for two hours, you walk 3 to 4 km through Algeciras, and no host appears to hurry you up or hand over a clue. When a puzzle beats you, you take it with you to the next corner.

Company Outing Ideas for Algeciras That Take a Minute to Book

Organising it is a date, a link and nothing else. No room to reserve, no facilitator to pay, no start time everyone has to make — the case and the route through Algeciras already exist, and the whole thing takes about two hours across 3 to 4 km. Because one ticket at €19.95 covers two to five people on one phone, twenty colleagues is four tickets and four teams on the same case. That last part is what turns it from an outing into a competition.

An Undercover Mission for Teams, Friends and Families in Algeciras

Teams. A team building escape game that needs no facilitator, no room booking and no scheduled start. Buy one ticket per five people, send the teams into Algeciras on the same case, and compare who cracked what. Running several groups at once is what turns it into a competition, and it is the reason this works as a company outing rather than just an afternoon out.

Friends. Each of you plays a character with an actual role, so the group does not quietly hand the puzzles to whoever is quickest. A theft to unravel, streets to search and nobody timing you.

Couples and pairs. Two of you, one phone, €19.95 for the case. There is no group, no departure time and no guide, so a long stop halfway through costs you exactly nothing.

Families. From roughly eight years old it lands properly, and the 3 to 4 km is an ordinary afternoon's walking. The youngest player is reliably the one who notices the thing on the wall, and cracking the codes is a joint effort.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Syndicate city escape game work?

It runs in the Loquiz app on your own phone. After booking you get a link, you walk to the starting point in Algeciras, and the game picks you up from your position. Each location has one thing to crack, and each thing cracked unlocks the next location, all the way to Magnus.

What is the story?

A set of formulas has been stolen and Magnus is the one carrying them. Your job is to reach him first. Each player takes a character with a specific role in the operation, so it plays as a role-playing game and not as a sequence of riddles.

Is this an escape room?

No, and that is the point. There is no room, no host and no locked door — it is an outdoor escape game played on the actual streets. If you like escape rooms, this is the same kind of thinking with the walls taken away.

How long does it take?

It runs about two hours, covering 3 to 4 km on foot. There is no time limit and no fixed start — you don't pick a date when booking, you begin whenever suits you within 12 months of your booking.

How many people can play on one ticket?

Two to five players share a single phone on one €19.95 ticket. More than five and you take a second ticket — which is the better arrangement anyway, since two groups on the same case can race.

Is it hard?

Intermediate. You need to look properly and think sideways; you do not need to know the city, and no puzzle is built to defeat you permanently.

Is it suitable for children?

It works from about age eight. Children manage the 3 to 4 km without trouble, are usually the quickest at the photo tasks, and are often the first to spot the detail on a wall that everyone else walked past.

Do we need to pick a date and time?

No. No date, no time at booking. Your ticket is valid for 12 months and you begin whenever suits you on any day. There is nowhere to assemble, nobody guiding and no group to catch up with.

What happens if it rains?

Rain is a pause, not a problem. Get under cover, let it pass, and carry on from the stop you were at — everything is saved and nothing is counting down.

What size group does it work with?

Two to five people share one phone on a single ticket, so two is the smallest group. If you would rather have a murder to solve or a scavenger hunt than a heist, the other city games in Algeciras cover that.

I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

This was a fun game! It had a few challenges which was good and surprises. It got me to go around and explore Queenstown, New Zealand. I got to places in Queenstown, New Zealand I hadn’t been to before while on holiday here. Thank you for that and it gave a feel what it would be like to be the actual Sherlock Holmes!
