Colombo mixes a busy harbour, colonial arcades, Buddhist and Hindu temples and a long seafront green where the city gathers in the evening. Galle, further south, sits inside a Dutch fort with ramparts you can walk around in half an hour, and its grid of streets is full of workshops, tea rooms and old warehouses.
