United Kingdom: city games
A City Game turns a walk through a city in the United Kingdom into a self-guided game. You follow a route on your smartphone, solve puzzles at real landmarks and pick up the stories behind the streets as you go. City Games run in 8 cities in the United Kingdom, from London and Edinburgh to Manchester, and in Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle upon Tyne and Belfast.
You decide when to start. Stop for a coffee or a museum visit and continue whenever you like. A game usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours and covers 3 to 4 km on foot, which makes it an easy way to see the highlights of a city in the United Kingdom in a single afternoon.

British cities differ more than the map suggests. London is a set of villages grown together, so a game there stays inside one or two neighbourhoods rather than crossing the whole city. Edinburgh splits in two: a medieval Old Town along the ridge and a Georgian New Town of straight streets below. The industrial north rebuilt itself around music, football and warehouses, which Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle upon Tyne all wear openly, and Belfast tells its own story along the river.
Rain is part of the deal, so a jacket beats an umbrella when you are holding a phone. Pubs, museums and covered markets make good halfway stops, and most city centres are compact enough to finish in an afternoon. Compare all City Games or browse all our destinations to pick your next city.
