I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What can friends explore with puzzles and photo tasks?

Secrets of Aalst offers a self-guided walking game around Grote Markt and the old centre, with puzzles and photo tasks to solve together. The route also passes the Dirk Martens Statue and Sint-Jozefscollege. You play in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed, in teams of at most four.

Choose this option when your friends want varied exploration tasks alongside their walk. Everyone can contribute observations and ideas, even though only one person holds the screen. Decide together how to approach the next task and follow the game at your own pace. For a larger celebration, arrange several small teams with their own phones so every group can take part within the player limit.

Where does the detective case take our team?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Aalst follows a detective case from the belfry to St Martin's Church and the city museum. It uses the free Loquiz app on your own phone and allows at most four players per team. Your friends can discuss the mystery while guiding themselves through the walk at their own pace.

Pick this story when investigating together sounds like the focus your bachelor or bachelorette group wants. Decide who will share each team phone before you meet, and invite everyone to suggest ideas during the game. Keep rivalry between friends relaxed as the case gives the celebration a common opening activity. You follow the story without a guide leading your group or making the next decisions for you.

How do we organise the team count and start?

Each Aalst game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. A maximum of four players share one team phone, so calculate the number of teams your guest list needs before booking. A larger party requires several team bookings and devices within that limit.

You can begin whenever you want, every day, with a booking valid for 12 months. Choose the exploration game or detective case first, assign friends to teams and check the phone setup. The exploration game runs in a browser, while the mystery uses an app. Agree a start together and leave enough room for the walk within your day's plans. These self-guided games let your group organise its own beginning and follow the activity together.

Can a hen group choose these games?

Yes. A hen or bachelorette group can play in small teams with friendly competition.

Which game works without an app?

Secrets of Aalst runs in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed.

Can five friends share one team?

Both games allow at most four players per team. A larger group forms several teams.

Is the price charged per guest?

The price is €19.95 per team within its player limit, using one phone.
