I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where can we start with puzzles or detective work?
Secrets of Dortmund begins on the Markt and takes you to St. Reinoldi with puzzles and photo tasks. Your team guides itself, using one phone to follow the activity and talk through its decisions. This option suits a group that wants exploration to be part of the celebration.
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Dortmund follows a detective case from Platz von Leeds past St Reinold's Church to the Opernhaus. Choose that story when your friends enjoy discussing a mystery as they walk. Each of these two games uses the free Loquiz app and allows at most four players per team. Prepare one phone for every team before you begin.

What does the five-player escape activity involve?
The Dortmund Syndicate (outdoor escape game) takes you after Magnus and the stolen formulas past Alter Markt, St. Reinoldi and Marienkirche. It is a self-guided outdoor escape story for at most five players sharing a phone. Follow the activity in the free Loquiz app and walk at your own pace through the streets.
A bachelor or bachelorette group can use this team size when deciding how to split the guest list. Let everyone help with the team's decisions while one person handles the screen. The shared story gives friends something to focus on together. Keep the rivalry relaxed so the walking challenge works as an opening activity for the whole party.
What do we pay and how flexible is the start?
Each Dortmund game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. The exploration and detective options allow at most four players per team, while the outdoor escape option allows five. Calculate the number of teams your party needs, with one phone arranged for each team.
You can start whenever you want on any day, and the booking is valid for 12 months. Choose a story before dividing friends into teams because the player limits differ. Then agree a time to get everyone ready for the walk. There is no guide to lead these self-guided games, leaving your group to organise its own start and follow the activity together.
Can a hen party take part?
Yes. Bachelor and bachelorette groups can choose these walking games and play in small teams.
Which walk starts on the Markt?
Secrets of Dortmund begins on the Markt and takes you to St. Reinoldi.
What app do the games require?
All three games use the free Loquiz app on your own phone.
Is one booking enough for any group size?
Each team booking has a player limit of four, or five for The Dortmund Syndicate (outdoor escape game). A larger party needs several teams.
