I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What is the poet’s notebook quest?

Secrets of Sorrento asks you to help Torquato Tasso recover the notebook containing the final verses of his lost masterpiece. You play in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed and at most four players per team. The walk passes the Basilica of Saint Anthony Abbot, the Statue of Saint Anthony and the Marina Piccola Viewpoint. Following a story gives friends something to discuss beyond deciding which way to walk. Encourage teammates to notice their surroundings and share their thinking before you settle on an answer. The quest can provide a playful opening to the celebration without the organiser having to write extra challenges for the group.

Which route follows the detective case?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Sorrento takes your team from the Basilica of Saint Anthony to Piazza Tasso. You investigate on foot through the free Loquiz app, with one phone shared by at most four players. Choose this option if your friends would enjoy a mystery as the focus of the walk. Make sure everyone can follow each prompt, then let different teammates offer their interpretation before deciding together. A small team keeps that conversation manageable and gives quieter friends a chance to speak. For a bachelor or bachelorette gathering, the detective theme can create friendly rivalry while the walking time leaves room for the group to enjoy each other’s company.

How do you fit the game into your plans?

Either Sorrento game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team. Start whenever you want, every day, and use your booking within 12 months.
