I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How do you help Poseidon find his trident?

Secrets of Heraklion asks you to solve clues and help Poseidon reclaim his lost trident. Your city game Heraklion passes Koules Fortress first, then Heraklion Old Town and afterwards City Park Circle. These places accompany your team's search while the story gives everyone a common objective to follow.

The game runs in your own phone browser, with no app needed. Allow around 1.5 to 2 hours. Choose it if you want an exploration built around a myth-inspired search. You can share the clues with everyone, compare ideas and look around as you walk, keeping the task connected with your time together in the city rather than following it alone on a screen.

Which places belong to the detective case?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Heraklion gives your team a detective investigation using the free Loquiz app. Along this route you see Rocca a Mare Fortress first, then the Cathedral of Agios Minas and afterwards the Venetian Walls of Heraklion. This is its own story, separate from the search for Poseidon's trident.

You use your own phone and should plan around 1.5 to 2 hours. Decide before beginning whether a murder case is the activity you want to share. The person with the phone can read out clues, while everyone offers thoughts about the information. That keeps the investigation a team task throughout your walk and lets you discuss it together at your own pace.

What does your group need to plan?

Your city game Heraklion costs €19.95 per team, with one phone and at most four players. Both stories have this team limit. Put your group together within that size, then agree whether you want the trident search or the murder investigation. This also determines which technology you use.

You can start whenever you like and should set aside around 1.5 to 2 hours. Open Secrets of Heraklion in your browser, or use the free Loquiz app for the detective story. Agree which phone you will share and who will call up the tasks. The others can contribute ideas and notice the surroundings, connecting your self-guided route with a story that everyone follows together.
