I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Why pause at the cathedral during a game?

Magdeburger Dom is the cathedral in Magdeburg and appears on all three game routes described here. That makes it a useful landmark when choosing an activity around a cathedral visit. Look at the building from the surrounding public space and give yourself time to notice its overall form. The game then carries your outing onwards through the city. You can enjoy the cathedral as a sightseeing moment while keeping a common activity running for friends, a couple or colleagues.

How does the discovery route connect the sights?

Secrets of Magdeburg takes you past Skulpturenpark Kunstmuseum, the cathedral, Sterntor am Domplatz and the Green Citadel. Its self-guided exploration also introduces the city through the Alter Markt, the Roland statue and old squares. Choose this option when your group wants to discover places while solving puzzles and photo tasks. The sequence gives you several different things to look at during the walk. The cathedral belongs within that wider exploration, rather than being the only reason to set out together.

Which story suits detective and escape-game fans?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Magdeburg offers a detective case, while The Magdeburg Syndicate (outdoor escape game) follows stolen formulas. On the detective route you see the cathedral before Dommuseum Ottonianum and Garten der Möllenvogtei; the wider walk runs from Kathedrale St. Sebastian towards Grüne Zitadelle. The Syndicate begins its hunt for Magnus at Friedensplatz and leads through Domplatz towards Hubbrücke. You encounter the cathedral, then the Landtag and Green Citadel. Its setting is the streets, with your team pursuing the story outdoors.

How much does a cathedral-area game cost?

Each Magdeburg game costs €19.95 per team and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Use one phone with the free Loquiz app. A Secrets or Sherlock Holmes team can include at most 4 players; a Syndicate team can include at most 5. These details make it straightforward to choose an activity for your actual group. The start is flexible every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. Agree on your theme and leave the start time to suit your outing.

Does Secrets include the cathedral?

Yes. Magdeburg Cathedral is one of the stops in Secrets of Magdeburg.

What kind of Syndicate activity is available?

The Magdeburg Syndicate (outdoor escape game) is a street-based hunt for Magnus and stolen formulas.

Can our team have five players?

Choose The Syndicate for a maximum of 5 players on one phone. The other two games allow at most 4.

Must we choose a fixed starting hour?

You can start whenever you want, every day. Your game is valid for 12 months.
