I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which dark stories does Kiel tell?
Kiel is a harbour city with a stormy past. In November 1918, sailors in Kiel rose up against their officers, and the Kiel mutiny helped bring down the German Empire. Much of the old town was destroyed in the Second World War, so you walk between old and new.
Beside the St. Nikolai Church stands Ernst Barlach's bronze sculpture Der Geistkämpfer, the spirit fighter, an angel on a beast. On a dark October evening, with the harbour lights behind it, it is an eerie sight.

How is Halloween celebrated in Kiel?
Halloween has become popular in Kiel over the past decades, with costume parties, carved pumpkins and children ringing doorbells for sweets in some neighbourhoods. 31 October is also Reformation Day, a public holiday in Schleswig-Holstein, so many people have the day off.
That makes halloween Kiel a good moment for an outing with friends or family: walk the old town in the afternoon light and finish your game when it gets dark.
Which game do you choose for Halloween?
In Secrets of Kiel you join Max Planck on a hunt for cryptic clues. The route starts at the City Hall Tower and leads past Kiel Harbor and the St. Nikolai Church to the Warleberhof. It runs in the browser on your own phone. It costs €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players.
The Kiel Syndicate (outdoor escape game) is an outdoor alternative to an escape room. You follow Magnus and the stolen formulas from the Alter Markt past the Nikolaikirche and the Holstenbrücke to the Kleiner Kiel. It costs €19.95 per team: one phone, 2 to 5 players, with the free Loquiz app.

Is there a Halloween discount?
Yes. With the code HALLOWEEN50 you get 50% off all our games, valid until 2 November.
There is no guide and no fixed time slot. You buy online, start when it suits you and pause whenever you want, so a halloween Kiel game also works as a last-minute plan. Bigger groups can split into several teams and play at the same time, each on its own phone. Dress warmly: the wind from the fjord can be sharp on an October night, and the harbour is dark early.
