I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Why does Intramuros feel haunted?
Intramuros carries centuries of hard history. The Spanish built the walls to defend their colonial capital, and inside them stood churches, convents and the fortress of Fort Santiago, where José Rizal was held before his execution in 1896. In February 1945 the Battle of Manila left the walled city almost completely destroyed, and many civilians died.
One building came through it all: San Agustin Church, completed in the early 1600s and the oldest stone church in the Philippines. Many people in Manila will tell you that Intramuros is full of ghosts, and walking its quiet streets after dark, past ruins and thick stone walls, you understand why. We do not need to make up a story; the place speaks for itself.

What do you see on the detective route?
The Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Manila starts near Casa Manila, a reconstructed Spanish colonial house, and follows the old Intramuros walls. On the way you pass Bahay Tsinoy, the museum about Chinese life in the Philippines, and the massive façade of San Agustin Church and Convent.
You question witnesses, collect clues and decide together who the killer is. The game takes 1.5–2 hours and runs in the free Loquiz app on one phone per team. As the light fades over the walls, it becomes a memorable halloween Manila evening for friends, couples, students and colleagues.
How is Halloween celebrated in Manila?
In Manila, Halloween leads straight into Undas: All Saints' Day on 1 November and All Souls' Day on 2 November. Families travel to the cemeteries, clean the graves, light candles and often stay for hours or even overnight to remember their dead. Malls, schools and bars also hold costume parties in the days before.
