I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What does the gallery add to sightseeing?

Galleria Umberto I is a covered gallery at Via Santa Brigida 68 in Naples. Its architectural setting gives your walk a different focus from an open square or an individual church facade. Pause to notice the structure before returning to the game story. Your companions can compare what they see, making the stop a shared sightseeing moment rather than just a place name on the phone. The game connects several places through an activity on foot. Leave time for any additional plans independently so your group can enjoy both the walk and the architecture without rushing.

Would you choose an investigation or exploration tasks?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Naples passes the gallery on a detective walk described as going from Piazza del Gesù through the old centre towards Duomo di Napoli. Its route also includes Castel Nuovo. Secrets of Naples passes the gallery too, combining puzzles and photo tasks with sightseeing. You see the Royal Palace of Naples and Teatro di San Carlo before the gallery stop. Choose the detective game if your companions want a case to keep discussing, or the exploration walk if you prefer a mixture of tasks. Both let you connect city places with something to do together.

What should you know about the two ways to play?

The detective game uses the free Loquiz app, while Secrets of Naples runs in the browser on your own phone with no app needed. Both cost €19.95 per team and last 1.5 to 2 hours, with at most 4 players sharing one phone. Decide which setup fits your companions and choose the device before beginning. Everyone can contribute to the decisions, even if only one person handles the screen. You can start whenever you want, every day, with validity for 12 months. Keep separate visits outside the playing time so the game remains a flexible part of your Naples outing.
