Situated along the Rhine, Cologne is a city of high historical and cultural significance. After the Second World War, most of the city had to be rebuilt which resulted in a diverse-looking city.
Cologne is a total museum city, including the Romano-Germanic Museum, Ludwig Museum, and Wallraf-Richartz Museum. The Old Town is a picturesque spot to consider when visiting this city. Three-quarters of the city was wiped out during the war, however, the grandiosity of the old atmosphere is still lingering. Of course, a picnic around traditional German houses is a must in order to relax on a sunny day before checking out the other spots.
One landmark worth visiting is the Cologne Cathedral, which displays an imposing stature. Especially if you are an energic tourist, climbing up 500+ stairs to marvel at the scenery from up above will take your breath away.
