I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What does the garden stop add to your walk?

Trädgårdsföreningen is a garden and park in Gothenburg that you can see during both featured walking games. It gives your group a different setting from the squares, waterfront and individual buildings elsewhere along the routes. Pause to notice the surroundings before returning to the phone. You can compare what different companions appreciate, making the sightseeing a shared conversation rather than only a sequence of destinations. The game already supplies an activity through the city. If you want a separate garden visit, plan that independently and leave additional time around the walking game you choose.

Which Gothenburg stories pass this landmark?

Secrets of Gothenburg passes Trädgårdsföreningen as you follow Johan the Swift and Erik the Bear in a search for the sacred blades of their old duel. Along its route you see Gustav Adolfs Torg, Gothenburg City Museum and Barken Viking. Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Gothenburg also passes the garden, offering a detective investigation instead. Its walk is described as going from Gustaf Adolfs Torg past Kronhuset towards Feskekôrka. Choose the blade recovery story if that fictional objective interests your companions, or the murder case if you prefer a continuing investigation to discuss between the sights you see together.

Which practical setup should your team choose?

Secrets of Gothenburg works in the browser on your own phone without an app, while the detective option uses the free Loquiz app. Both cost €19.95 per team and last 1.5 to 2 hours, with at most 4 players sharing one phone. Pick the story and device before setting out, then let everyone contribute to the discussion regardless of who reads the screen. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game is valid for 12 months. Add time separately for other Gothenburg activities so the self-guided walk stays a flexible part of your outing.
