I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which games suit teams of up to four?

Secrets of Mannheim combines puzzles and photo tasks with stories about Paradeplatz, the palace and the old churches. Colleagues guide themselves on a shared phone, offering observations as they approach the exploration tasks together. Choose it when varied activities sound like the right focus for your city walk.

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Mannheim follows a case from Wasserturm on Friedrichsplatz through the Quadrate to the Baroque Palace. It gives colleagues a detective story to discuss at their own pace. Both games use the free Loquiz app and allow at most four players per team. How do we plan timing and team costs?

Each game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team. Count teams within the four-player exploration and detective limit, or five for the outdoor escape game. Every team plays on its own phone. Larger groups can ask for a group quote on the website.

All teams can begin at the same time and compare scores. Choose your story first, assign colleagues within its player limit and prepare the phones. You may start whenever you want, every day, with a booking valid for 12 months. Agree a shared beginning and allow time for the walk in your plans while each team follows the self-guided activity itself.
