I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which puzzle walks can colleagues choose?

Secrets of Istanbul has a Fatih route and a separate Üsküdar route, both played in the browser on your own phone with no app needed. In Fatih, the named route includes Old Custom House and Ancient Inscription Gate. In Üsküdar, you see Üsküdar Ferry Terminal and Üsküdar Bosphorus Waterfront among its places. Agree on the district before assigning teams rather than combining the routes into one itinerary. Each offers puzzles and photo tasks for colleagues to share on foot. Read a task aloud and let different people suggest an approach, so the device holder is not the only person guiding the group's decisions.

What detective options are available for the outing?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Istanbul uses the free Loquiz app for a fictional detective investigation. One Fatih description leads from Hagia Sophia towards the Grand Bazaar, while another describes a walk from Sultanahmet Meydanı past Basilica Cistern towards Süleymaniye. Choose the specific route before your colleagues start, keeping the versions distinct. The real religious and cultural places remain separate from the fictional case and deserve respectful attention. Any independent interior visit needs its own arrangements outside the activity. During the case, compare explanations before choosing an answer and let different teammates lead the reasoning, rather than relying on one confident reader for every decision.

How do you organise multiple teams?

Each Istanbul game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours, with at most 4 players sharing one phone. Every team uses its own phone, and all teams can start at the same time and compare scores. Larger groups can ask for a group quote on the website. Decide on the game version and access before the shared start, so all teams follow the same activity. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game is valid for 12 months. Give colleagues time to discuss tasks together and keep any independent sightseeing plans outside the game's own walking activity and duration.

Which games run without an app?

The Fatih and Üsküdar versions of Secrets of Istanbul run in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed.
