I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which detective game passes the monument?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Bunschoten Spakenburg passes Monument Spakenburgse Visser on an outing around the old harbours. The walk takes you from Oude Haven past the historic fish auction, with Museum Spakenburg also on the route. These places give the fictional case a real setting your group explores together.

At the monument, take a moment to notice the actual place before returning to the game. You can enjoy seeing where you are and then continue considering the investigation as the route moves on. The case gives your teammates a common task between destinations, while the surroundings add variety to the walk. It is an outing with both places and ideas to share.

What does the exploration option offer?

Secrets of Bunschoten Spakenburg is a self-guided walking exploration along the harbour, old shipyards and village centre. Its route includes Spakenburg Harbour, the traditional-dress statue and Het Kleine Zeetje. Choose it if your group prefers an exploration of the area to a fictional detective murder case.

Both games use the free Loquiz app on your own phone. Decide which activity suits your teammates before beginning and follow that game’s own route. If the monument is central to your plan, the detective outing is the game that passes it. Couples, friends or colleagues can compare the options and choose a walk they would enjoy sharing, with a common activity to follow between the places they see.

What should your group arrange before playing?

Both games cost €19.95 per team, take 1.5 to 2 hours and allow at most 4 players sharing one phone. Starting is flexible every day, and the purchase remains valid for 12 months. Choose a playing time that gives the activity room within your Bunschoten Spakenburg plans.

Keep independent sightseeing visits separate from the game duration. Agree on the shared phone and make the information available to everyone through reading and discussion. Each teammate can offer ideas even when someone else carries the device. Your chosen activity provides the focus, while the real surroundings and your group’s conversation help make the route a shared outing rather than simply moving from one place to another.
