I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which walks suit a curious or detective-minded group?

Secrets of Vienna combines puzzles and photo tasks with a self-guided walk past Stephansdom, Ruprechtskirche and the Freda-Meissner-Blau Promenade. It gives your group something to discuss as you explore, with each team following the game on its own phone. Share the screen and compare your ideas before choosing an answer.

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Vienna offers a detective story instead. Its walk takes you past Stephansdom and the Wiener Pestsäule on the Graben. Both games use the free Loquiz app and allow at most four players per team. Pick the exploration game for varied walking tasks or the mystery for a group that likes working through a case together.

What changes if we choose the outdoor escape game?

The Vienna Syndicate (outdoor escape game) follows Magnus and the stolen formulas through Vienna with teams of at most five. You see the Pestsäule, Peterskirche and Ankeruhr along the way. The streets form the setting for the chase, and you play at your own pace on a phone using the free Loquiz app.

For a bachelor or bachelorette party, that larger team limit may help you arrange friends into groups. Decide who will share each phone before you begin. Everyone can join the discussion around the story, rather than leaving all the decisions to the person holding the screen. Keep the competition friendly and make the walk part of your shared celebration.

How do we fit the game into our party budget?

Each game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. That price covers one phone for a team within the chosen game's limit: four players for exploration or detective play, five for the outdoor escape game. A larger party needs several teams, so calculate your budget from the number of teams you will book.

You can start whenever you want, every day, and your booking remains valid for 12 months. There is no guide to coordinate with during this self-guided activity. Choose your game, organise the teams and leave space for the walk in your day's plans. The freedom to choose a start time helps different friends join the celebration together.

Can a hen group play too?

Yes. These self-guided walks suit a bachelor or bachelorette group that wants puzzles and friendly team competition.

Which option allows five friends on one phone?

The Vienna Syndicate (outdoor escape game) allows at most five players per team. The other two games allow at most four.

What should we install before the walk?

All three games use the free Loquiz app on your own phone.

Is the booking tied to one start time?

You can start whenever you want, every day. The booking is valid for 12 months.
