I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where does the exploratory tour go?
Secrets of Volendam is a self-guided walking tour with puzzles and photo tasks along the harbour boulevard, Markermeer and old lanes. The game uses the free Loquiz app and allows at most four players to share a phone. It is an option for friends who want to explore while having a common activity to follow. Take turns reading and discussing the prompts, then let the photo tasks offer another way to join in. You do not need to write an extra party challenge for every part of the walk. For a bachelor or bachelorette group, the game provides the focus while teammates bring their own observations, ideas and conversation.

What does the detective route include?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Volendam leads your team from the Volendams Museum to the harbour front. You also encounter Doolhof and Sint-Vincentiuskerk on the walking route. The case runs through the free Loquiz app on one phone, with at most four players per team. Choose the mystery if your friends like discussing possibilities as they move through the village. Share what the prompts say so everyone can contribute, not just the person holding the device. The small team gives each friend a voice while keeping the activity manageable. Friendly competition can bring energy to the gathering without making the whole celebration depend on who answers most quickly.
How can you organise the start?
Each Volendam game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Starting is flexible every day, and your booking remains valid for 12 months. Agree on your preferred game before friends meet, form teams of at most four and arrange one phone per team. Prepare the free Loquiz app so the group is ready to walk. Leave enough time in the celebration schedule for the complete activity rather than treating it as a short stop. With those details settled, your friends can concentrate on solving together and enjoying a common challenge before you move on to the other plans you have made for the day.
