I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What is the stolen-blueprints quest?

Secrets of Zaandam asks your team to help Tsar Peter the Great recover his stolen blueprints. The game runs in the browser on your own phone without an app, with at most four players per team. Along the walk you see Monument Februaristaking 1941, the Tsar Peter the Great Statue and Dam 1 and 1b. Keep the fictional search separate from the real memorial and approach that place respectfully. The story gives your friends a common purpose while you explore the streets and canals. Share the reading and hear everyone’s ideas before deciding on an answer, so the challenge remains something the whole small team helps shape.

Where can your detective team investigate?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Zaandam follows a walking case from the Gedempte Gracht to the Czaar Peterhuisje. You also see Grote Sluis along the route. Your team plays in the free Loquiz app, using one phone for at most four players. Pick this option if your friends would enjoy a detective story as the thread connecting their walk. Rotate the person reading and invite different suggestions before agreeing on the next move. A small team can make the conversation easier to share than a discussion involving the entire party. For a bachelor or bachelorette gathering, that leaves room for friendly competitive energy without losing the sociable side of exploring together.

What should the party organiser prepare?

Both Zaandam games cost €19.95 per team and take 1.5 to 2 hours. You can start whenever you want, every day, and bookings are valid for 12 months. Arrange teams of at most four and one phone per team, then confirm which story you will play. The blueprints quest needs the browser; the detective mystery needs the free Loquiz app. Give the full walk a place in your plans so the group can enjoy the activity without feeling hurried between other arrangements. Once the practical choices are made, teammates can concentrate on sharing ideas and working through the challenge before the rest of the celebration continues.

Which choice works without an app?

Secrets of Zaandam runs in your phone’s browser without an app.

What is the detective game’s team limit?

At most four players share one phone in the detective game, as in the blueprints quest.

How long does the walk take?

Either Zaandam game takes 1.5 to 2 hours.

Can we decide our own starting time?

Yes. Start whenever you want, every day, within the 12-month booking validity.
