I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which quest follows the stolen blueprints?

Secrets of Zaandam asks your team to help Tsar Peter the Great recover his stolen blueprints. The game runs in your phone’s browser without an app. You pass Monument Februaristaking 1941, the Tsar Peter the Great Statue and Dam 1 and 1b along the route. Keep the fictional search separate from the real memorial and approach that place respectfully. The quest gives colleagues a common goal while exploring together. Share the prompts and hear different suggestions before choosing an answer. A team of at most four leaves room for quieter observations alongside quick answers. The story supplies the activity without one colleague needing to direct the whole walk.

Where can your detective team investigate?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Zaandam takes your team from Gedempte Gracht to the Czaar Peterhuisje. Along the walking route you also see Grote Sluis. You investigate through the free Loquiz app, with one phone for at most four players. Choose this case if colleagues enjoy discussing a mystery as the thread connecting their outing. Read each prompt together so everyone can follow the story and offer a suggestion before the team decides. The small group gives each person room to contribute without requiring the full group to settle every answer. A continuing case provides the common purpose while teammates take turns shaping the discussion and decisions together.

How should you prepare colleagues to play?

Either Zaandam game costs €19.95 per team and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Start whenever you want, every day, with a booking valid for 12 months. Form teams of at most four, each with its own phone.
