I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What does the discovery walk show you?

Secrets of Trier is a self-guided city tour from the Kornmarkt past the market square, old palaces and Roman remains. Along the way you see Karl Marx House, Saint George's Fountain and the Red House. For children who like having something to look for, suggest taking turns describing a detail before the adults add their own observations. That keeps the walking part of your family activity. You follow the game on your own phone using the free Loquiz app, with no guide setting the pace for you.

Where does the detective story take you?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Trier follows a case from the Kornmarkt to the Porta Nigra at your own pace. You pass Judengasse, Liebfrauenkirche and Steipe on the route. It gives a family day out Trier a detective theme, so discuss the murder mystery premise with your children when choosing. During play, give each person space to explain their thinking before the team makes a decision. A shared case can encourage conversation during the walk, especially when parents resist answering every question first. This game also uses the free Loquiz app.

What should you arrange before leaving?

Your Trier game costs €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players, and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Install the free Loquiz app on your chosen phone before beginning and agree how you will share the screen. For a family day out Trier, practical roles can help: one person reads, another checks that everyone has heard, and everyone contributes ideas. You can start whenever you want, every day. With 12 months of validity, you can choose a day that fits your family rather than work around a scheduled departure.

Do both Trier games use an app?

Yes. Secrets of Trier and Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Trier both use the free Loquiz app.

Where do the walks begin?

Both game descriptions begin at the Kornmarkt. The detective case continues towards the Porta Nigra.

Can children contribute without holding the phone?

You can share reading, looking and discussing between family members. Choose the story according to your children’s interests.

Is there a set departure time?

No. You can begin on any day at a time you choose, and the game is valid for 12 months.
