I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What is worth noticing at the Heger Tor?

The Heger Tor is a gateway monument in Osnabruck, providing an architectural stop during your city walk. Take a moment to look at its overall shape and how it frames the space around it. This is a different way to engage with the city from reading a task or discussing the story on your phone. Your companions may notice different details, giving everyone something to contribute. A self-guided game leaves those pauses to your own group, so you can balance the sightseeing with the shared activity. Plan separate visits independently if your outing includes more than the walking game.

Which activity takes you past the gateway?

Secrets of Osnabruck and The Osnabruck Syndicate (outdoor escape game) both pass the Heger Tor. The exploration option offers puzzles and photo tasks around the Marktplatz, city hall and old town. You see Hexengang, St. Peter's Cathedral and the historic city hall along its route. The outdoor escape game follows Magnus and stolen formulas from Dom St. Petrus towards Schloss Osnabrück. You also see Markt, the cathedral and Hasetorwall before the Heger Tor stop. Choose according to what your group enjoys: varied exploration tasks or a pursuit that gives you a continuing story to discuss through the streets.

How do you select the right option for your group?

Secrets of Osnabruck allows at most 4 players per team, while the outdoor escape game allows at most 5. Both use one phone with the free Loquiz app, cost €19.95 per team and last 1.5 to 2 hours. Decide how many companions are coming before choosing the story, then agree which phone the team will share. Everyone can take part in discussing decisions, regardless of who handles the screen. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. That flexibility lets you organise the outing around the availability of your friends, family or colleagues.

Is Heger Tor on both game routes?

Yes. Both the exploration game and the outdoor escape game pass the gateway.

Does the exploration walk include photo tasks?

Yes. Secrets of Osnabruck includes puzzles and photo tasks around the city.

How many players can join the pursuit?

The Osnabruck Syndicate (outdoor escape game) allows at most 5 players per team.

Do we need separate phones?

Each team uses one shared phone with the free Loquiz app.
