I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which dark stories belong to Verona?
Verona's darkest story is also its most famous: Romeo and Juliet, the tragedy Shakespeare set in this city, which ends with two young lovers dead in a tomb. On Secrets of Verona you pass the Balcone di Romeo e Giulietta, where that story still draws crowds.
The Arena di Verona is older and grimmer. This Roman amphitheatre has stood for about two thousand years and once hosted gladiator fights. The same game also takes you to Piazza delle Erbe and the Roman Arco dei Gavi. Its guide is Dante Alighieri, the poet who wrote about hell in The Divine Comedy and who found shelter in Verona during his exile. You help him find the missing page that hides the city's final secret.

How is Halloween celebrated in Verona?
Halloween is a fairly new import in Italy. Children dress up and some bars hold themed evenings, but the older tradition comes right after it: 1 November is All Saints' Day, a public holiday, and 2 November is the day Italians remember their dead and visit family graves.
That makes late October a quiet, reflective time in Verona. Evenings come early, the Adige runs dark under the bridges and the narrow streets around the squares feel older than they do in summer. For a halloween Verona outing without crowds or tickets for a set time, a city game fits that mood well: you walk at your own pace and stop wherever you like.
Which game should you play this Halloween?
Choose Secrets of Verona for legends and poetry, or Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Verona for a crime to solve. The detective game, whose story is based on Sherlock Holmes, starts at the Arena di Verona and leads you to Piazza dei Signori, the Domus Mercatorum and Piazzetta Scala, with the Torre dei Lamberti rising above you.
