I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Halloween Galle: dark history behind the fort walls
Galle Fort carries centuries of hard history inside its walls. The Portuguese built the first fortifications, the Dutch captured the town in 1640 and rebuilt it as a stronghold of their trading company, and the British took over at the end of the 18th century. Every ruler left stone, cannons and stories behind.
The sea is part of that history too. On 26 December 2004 the Indian Ocean tsunami struck Galle hard, and the fort walls held back much of the water for the streets inside. Walking along the bastions in the evening, with the waves breaking below, you feel how close the town has always lived to danger. We do not tell made-up ghost stories here; the real past of these streets is atmospheric enough.

Is Halloween celebrated in Galle?
Halloween is not a Sri Lankan tradition, so you will not find a town full of carved pumpkins. Around the end of October it is simply a warm, often rainy time of year, when evening showers make the old stone streets shine under the lamps.
That makes a game a fitting way to mark the night: you create your own suspense instead of looking for an event. The quiet lanes of the fort after sunset, the shuttered windows and the sound of the sea give a detective story the right mood. Bring a light jacket against the rain, charge your phone and set out with friends, family or your partner for a Halloween Galle outing that has a story to it.
