Munich, the capital of the Bavaria region in Germany is very known for the world's oldest art gallery named the Alte Pinakothek. The art pieces consist of Dutch, French, Flemish, Spanish, and Italian paintings.
On the contrary, there is also a so-called New Pinakothek which can be found in Munich as well. This one is filled with 1800s art.
For a nice highlight, Marienplatz is the main square next to the municipality of Munich. It is in the proximity of plenty of shops and cafés if you are in the mood for a tasty break. Moreover, a fun fact about Marienplatz is that it has been the main square since the 12th century. During Christmas, this square is turned into a winter wonderland, full of festive markets.
