I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Why start your outing at Orange Square?

Plaza de los Naranjos is a square in Marbella’s old town and a starting point for the three games described here. It gives your group an identifiable place to begin before exploring further. Take a moment to look across the square and notice how the surrounding streets lead away from it. A game turns that starting point into the beginning of a shared activity. You can choose a discovery theme to focus on puzzles and photo tasks, or a story that carries you towards the castle. Think about what everyone enjoys doing together before deciding which version of the walk to try.

How do the three Marbella games differ?

Secrets of Marbella starts at Plaza de los Naranjos with puzzles, photo tasks and stories about the old town. Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Marbella follows a detective case from the square towards Castillo de Marbella. On its route you see the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Engraving, then Avenida del Mar, Iglesia de la Encarnacion and Parque de la Alameda. The Marbella Syndicate (outdoor escape game) also runs from the square towards the castle, pursuing Magnus and stolen formulas. You see Plaza de los Naranjos before Capilla de San Juan de Dios, then Plaza de África and Parque de la Alameda as the street adventure unfolds.

What should you know before meeting your team?

The Marbella games cost €19.95 per team and take 1.5 to 2 hours, using the free Loquiz app on your own phone. A Secrets or Sherlock Holmes team can have at most 4 players; a Syndicate team can have at most 5. Those limits can help you choose the activity alongside its theme. Once your group has decided, choose a convenient day and meeting time for the square. You can start whenever you want, every day. The game remains valid for 12 months, leaving you flexibility when putting your wider visit together and arranging a walk that everyone can share.
