I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What can you notice at the Golden Tower?

Torre del Oro is a tower beside the river in Seville and is passed by both the detective game and The Syndicate. Its riverside setting makes it a useful contrast with the squares and streets elsewhere on your walk. Pause to look at the tower in relation to the water and the city around it. You can enjoy this landmark while keeping a shared activity running through the outing. The game supplies a story between sightseeing moments, so your group has something to follow as well as something to see. It suits friends who like exploring places through an activity they can discuss together.

Which game stories pass the tower?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Seville passes Torre del Oro during a case from Monumento a San Fernando towards Barrio de Santa Cruz. Along its route you see the tower, then Seville Cathedral, the Royal Alcázar and the Santa Cruz neighbourhood. The Seville Syndicate (outdoor escape game) also passes the tower while you hunt Magnus and stolen formulas from Plaza del Triunfo towards Puente de Isabel II. You encounter Plaza del Triunfo before the cathedral, then Hospital de la Caridad and Teatro de la Maestranza. For another theme, Secrets of Seville asks you to help Don Juan Tenorio recover his sword, with Santa Maria la Blanca and Convento de Madre de Dios among its sights.

How do the games work on your phone?

Secrets of Seville runs in the browser on your own phone with no app, while Sherlock Holmes and The Syndicate use the free Loquiz app. All take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team. Use one phone for at most 4 players in Secrets or Sherlock Holmes, or at most 5 in The Syndicate. Choose the story and setup that fit your group before arranging the walk. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game remains valid for 12 months. That leaves the timing of your outing open while giving you a clear activity to plan around.

Is Torre del Oro included in both story walks?
