I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How does the route connect the cathedral and lakeside?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Geneva leads from the old town and Saint-Pierre cathedral down to the lakeside. The route also passes Promenade du Pin and then Buste de Gustave Ador. These real settings give your team places to notice while a fictional case supplies the questions you work through together.

At the cathedral, give the building a moment before returning to the screen. The real place remains separate from the game's story. If you want an independent visit as well, leave room alongside the activity rather than assuming every other sightseeing plan fits into the same playing time, so walking and solving can each have attention.

What do your companions do during the investigation?

You follow riddles and photo tasks in the free Loquiz app on one phone during the Geneva game. At most 4 players form a team, exploring without an accompanying guide. Read the current instruction aloud and compare ideas before choosing how to answer together.

A partner may suggest another interpretation, while friends or colleagues can offer several approaches. Let those contributions move around the conversation even if one player carries the device. The person holding it can share the question without needing to make every decision. This keeps the detective work a group activity while the real city provides something else to notice as you continue walking between settings.

How do you organise the time and team price?

The activity costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours, using one phone for at most 4 players. Decide on your shared device and companions beforehand. Reserve time for walking as well as solving, with any additional visits planned separately around the game in your day.

You can start whenever you want, every day, within a validity period of 12 months. Choose a moment when the outing suits your visit to Geneva and everyone is ready to participate. Open the app, share the challenges and let the fictional case give your group a common focus while the route offers real places to see together.
