I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the Syndicate start at the square?
The Delft Syndicate (outdoor escape game) starts from Markt, then includes Nieuwe Kerk, Vermeer Centrum Delft and Beestenmarkt on its route. The mission follows Magnus and stolen formulas, with the streets providing the setting for your team’s decisions. Give yourself a moment at the square to get everyone following the same story before continuing. You can explore the places you pass without treating the game as an interior tour. The challenge is outdoors, and the fun comes from connecting your walk with a mission that you work through together, discussing each prompt and deciding how to respond as a group.

Which other stories can guide your Delft walk?
Secrets of Delft offers an exploration game from Markt, with puzzles and stops including Schemerlamp, Cow Statue, Het Blauwe Hart (The Blue Heart) and Nieuwe Kerk Bell Tower. These give your discovery walk details and locations to encounter while playing. Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Delft offers a detective investigation, beginning at Stationsplein and leading past Oude Kerk, Nieuwe Kerk and Oostpoort. Choose Secrets for a discovery format or Sherlock Holmes if your group wants a case to discuss. Deciding on one adventure before setting off helps everyone know what to expect and gives the walk a shared focus from the first prompt onwards.
How many people and how much time?
The games each cost €19.95 per team and take around 1.5 to 2 hours. They use the free Loquiz app. Secrets and Sherlock Holmes allow up to four players sharing one phone, while the Syndicate allows up to five. You can start daily at a flexible time, and the purchase stays valid for 12 months. Choose your team’s game with those sizes in mind, then leave enough space in the day to enjoy it. Keep the phone’s information open to everyone by reading or showing the prompts together.
