I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How does the detective route reach the city hall?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Leeuwarden includes Oldehove, then the city hall, Blokhuispoort and Ceramics Museum Princessehof among its stops. These places give your investigation changing settings as you explore. The case provides something to discuss between the real places rather than making the outing only a succession of sights.

No city hall admission or interior visit is specified for the game. If you want an additional visit, plan its time independently alongside the walking activity. At the stop itself, let the building have attention before reading onward. Clear expectations help your companions understand what the shared outing includes and where any extra plans belong in the rest of your day.

What does investigating on one team phone involve?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Leeuwarden is self-guided through the free Loquiz app on one phone. Up to four players form a team and compare their theories about the case. The device provides the activity while your group shares the conversation and decisions as the walk develops.

Let everyone hear each task before agreeing on an answer. A companion without the phone may see another approach worth explaining. Reading and discussing can change hands during the outing, so one person does not have to manage every decision alone. This helps the investigation remain common to all players rather than something the device holder operates while everyone else simply follows the route.

How does the browser-based exploration differ?

Secrets of Leeuwarden offers a separate puzzle walk from Waagplein past Oldehove Tower and Blokhuispoort. It runs in your phone browser without an app, unlike the detective activity’s Loquiz setup. Choose the investigation for the route that includes the city hall, or the exploration game for puzzles and a different phone setup.

Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four people sharing one phone. Both offer flexible daily starts and twelve months of validity after purchase. Compare the routes and activity styles with your companions, then find a suitable day. Extra visiting time belongs alongside the game duration in your shared plan.
