I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

Which detective route includes the museum?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Urk includes Klifweg, Westhavenkade, Museum Urk and Kerkje aan de Zee in that walking order. The fictional investigation gives your group something to discuss while the real locations provide surroundings for the walk. Notice the museum as part of the outing and arrange any visit inside as a separate activity. Each player can suggest what a clue might mean before the team chooses an answer. Share the prompt so everyone knows the current challenge, keeping the reasoning open to the whole group. That leaves time to look around as well as follow the case, rather than letting the phone become the only focus of the route.

What does the discovery adventure offer?

Secrets of Urk is a self-guided scavenger hunt through the old harbour, past the village museum and the church by the sea. Its route includes Kerkje aan de Zee, Urker Strand and Ut Vuurtje among the places you encounter. Choose it if a discovery activity interests your companions more than a detective plot. Both games give the walk a shared purpose, but the format you follow differs. Agree on what the whole group wants before selecting an adventure, then focus on that one activity together. You can compare observations and discuss possible responses as you explore, with each person contributing ideas while the surroundings provide places to notice between the tasks.

How much does a team pay and what does it need?

Both adventures cost €19.95 per team, take about 1.5 to 2 hours and allow up to four players sharing one phone. They use the free Loquiz app. Starting times are flexible daily, and the purchase remains valid for 12 months. Choose a suitable occasion when the group can enjoy the walk and the tasks without rushing into another plan. Keep any separately arranged interior visits outside the game’s time. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen to your companions so everyone follows the activity. Different ideas can turn the next answer into a discussion, with the team deciding together how to continue the chosen adventure through Urk.
