I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where does the lighthouse appear in Secrets?
Secrets of Urk includes Kerkje aan de Zee, Urker Strand, Ut Vuurtje and Urk Lighthouse in that walking order. The self-guided scavenger hunt explores the old harbour, past the village museum and the church by the sea. Notice the lighthouse as part of the route and arrange any separate visit independently of the walking game. Your companions can compare observations before considering what the current prompt asks, giving each player a chance to suggest an answer. Sharing that information keeps the discovery collaborative while leaving attention for the real surroundings, rather than concentrating only on the next step shown on the phone throughout the outing together.

What detective story can you select instead?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Urk follows a fictional case from Klifweg towards the lighthouse. Along the route you encounter Westhavenkade and Museum Urk after Klifweg. Choose it if your companions enjoy discussing possible explanations more than following a discovery game. Agree on which activity everyone wants before selecting your adventure, then focus on one shared story together. The real places provide changing surroundings while the case supplies clues and decisions to consider. Each person can add an observation or question an interpretation, helping the team choose how to respond. Keep separately arranged interior visits outside the walking activity so each part of your day has its own time.
How do the time, price and phone setup work?
Both listed adventures cost €19.95 per team, take about 1.5 to 2 hours and allow up to four players sharing one phone. They use the free Loquiz app. Flexible daily starting times and 12 months of validity let you choose a suitable occasion for the outing. Leave room in your plans for the walk and its tasks without rushing straight into another activity. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen so all your companions follow the current challenge. Comparing different ideas can make the next response a shared discussion, keeping the whole team involved even when one player carries the device and enters the chosen answer.
