I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which game explores the fortified town?

Secrets of Heusden is a self-guided walking tour past the mills, ramparts, old town gates and fortress harbour. You play through the free Loquiz app, with at most four people sharing one phone. Along the route you see Oude Herptse Poort, Grote of Sint-Catharinakerk and Wijkse Poort. Choose this walk if your friends want to explore while following a common activity. Share the reading and discussion so different people have a chance to lead. The small team makes it easier to listen to quieter suggestions as well as the quick answers. For a bachelor or bachelorette group, that gives the outing a collaborative focus from the beginning.

Where can your friends follow a case?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Heusden leads your team from Wijkse Poort to the town harbour. On the walk you also encounter Oude Herptse Poort and Grote of Sint-Catharinakerk. The detective game uses the free Loquiz app and allows at most four players on one phone. Pick the mystery when your friends would enjoy discussing a case between stretches of walking. Let everyone hear the prompts and weigh the next answer together rather than leaving it to whoever holds the device. Friendly competition can add some energy to the gathering, while the shared story keeps the group working towards the same goal. Your team’s conversation becomes part of the activity.

What are the cost and timing details?

Both Heusden games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the booking remains valid for 12 months. Arrange teams of at most four with a phone for each before your friends gather. Decide on the exploratory game or the detective case and prepare the free Loquiz app. Give the walk enough room in the celebration schedule for the group to enjoy it as a full activity. With the basics organised, teammates can concentrate on their shared challenge before moving on to the other plans you have made for the stag or hen day.
