I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

Which walk lets you explore the town?

Secrets of Schoonhoven is a self-guided exploration game past the silver museum, the old town hall and the town gates. It uses the free Loquiz app, with at most four people sharing a phone. Choose this walk for friends who want to discover the surroundings while following a common activity. You can take turns reading and deciding what to do next, making sure the person with the device is not the only one involved. The team format gives the group a reason to exchange observations throughout the outing. It can open a bachelor or bachelorette day with a shared challenge before you continue with your other celebration plans.

Where does the detective trail take you?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Schoonhoven follows a walking case from the Veerpoort on the Lek to the Lopikerstraat. Along the way you see Grote of Bartholomeüskerk and Nederlands Zilvermuseum. The mystery runs in the free Loquiz app, with one phone for at most four players. Pick it if your friends enjoy the idea of discussing a case as they explore. Read prompts aloud and consider different suggestions so each teammate can help shape the next decision. A small team gives that conversation space without needing the whole party to settle every answer. Keep the competition friendly and let the mystery be the focus of this part of the day.

How should you prepare for the group activity?

Either Schoonhoven game costs €19.95 per team and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. You can start whenever you want, every day, within the booking’s 12-month validity. Agree on the game, form teams of at most four and arrange a phone for each one. Both choices use the free Loquiz app, so prepare it before friends are ready to set off. Leave a clear place for the walk in the party schedule instead of squeezing it into a brief gap. With the basic arrangements made, the group can concentrate on its shared challenge and enjoy contributing ideas before the rest of the celebration continues.
