I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the abbey connect with the detective route?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Leuven includes Abdij van Park during a fictional investigation on foot. Other locations along its route include Oude Markt, M Leuven and Botanical Garden in that walking sequence. The abbey is a real place to notice during the outing, separate from the case’s invented events. Arrange any interior visit independently of the city game, giving it its own time. Your companions can compare possible explanations of a clue before choosing an answer together. Sharing the prompt keeps the reasoning accessible to the whole group, with each player able to contribute an observation while the route brings different surroundings into your shared walk through the city.

What discovery activity can you choose instead?
Secrets of Leuven follows a self-guided walk through the streets and squares around Grote Markt, with puzzles and photo tasks along the way. Choose it if your companions want varied discovery activities rather than a detective plot. Both games give the walk a shared purpose, but the kind of challenge differs. Agree on what interests everyone before selecting an adventure, then concentrate on that one activity as a team. You can compare observations and discuss possible answers while looking at the surroundings, with the phone connecting the tasks rather than becoming the only focus. Each person can add an idea or question before the group decides how to continue together.
How do price, time and phone setup work?
Both listed games cost €19.95 per team, take about 1.5 to 2 hours and allow up to four players sharing one phone. They use the free Loquiz app. You can start daily at a flexible time, and the purchase remains valid for 12 months. Choose a suitable space in your plans for the walk and its tasks, keeping separate visits outside the game. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen so every companion follows the current challenge. Different interpretations can make the next response a shared discussion, with everyone helping the team choose an answer even when another player is carrying the device and entering the response.
