I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Why make La Major part of your walk?

Cathédrale La Major is a cathedral in Marseille and a stop in both Secrets and the Sherlock Holmes game. Seeing the cathedral from outside lets you take in the building as part of the surrounding city. Look at its overall shape before noticing the details that catch your attention. A walking game gives this stop a place in a wider outing, connecting it with other sights through a shared activity. Your group can enjoy looking around while still having a theme to follow. Choose a discovery walk if varied tasks appeal, or a detective story if you would enjoy working through a case together.

How do the cathedral routes explore Marseille?

Secrets of Marseille starts at the Vieux-Port and leads inland with puzzles and photo tasks. You see the Henri Tasso statue, then Cathédrale La Major and La Vieille Charité along the route. Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Marseille also passes the cathedral, following a case from La Vieille Charité down towards the old harbour and Fort Saint-Jean. Its sights include Mucem and La Major. The Marseille Syndicate (outdoor escape game) is another city choice: chase Magnus and stolen formulas from Place Monthyon towards the old harbour, passing Église Saint-Charles, then Vieux-Port and L’Ombrière. Choose that story for a pursuit in the streets.

What do you need to organise a game?

A Marseille city game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team, using the free Loquiz app on your own phone. The maximum is 4 players on one phone for Secrets or Sherlock Holmes, or 5 for The Syndicate. Check those limits with your group, then decide which story you want to share. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. That gives you room to arrange the walk around the rest of your visit. Friends, couples and colleagues can choose the theme that sounds most enjoyable to explore together.
