I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How can the Kunsthalle fit into your walk?

Kunsthalle Bremen is an art museum in Bremen that you can look at from outside during your city exploration. Take in the whole building before noticing smaller parts of its exterior. A short pause gives the sight attention without adding details about collections. Compare what your teammates noticed and then return to your selected activity. The museum can be one sightseeing stop within a wider route, while the tasks or story on your phone give your group something to share as you continue the walk together.

Which detective route passes the museum?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Bremen passes Kunsthalle Bremen and leads from Am Markt past the Rathaus and cathedral to Böttcherstraße. Along its route you see the Bremen Town Musicians, the Helmut von Moltke monument and Böttcherstraße. Choose it if investigating a case interests your group. Let different teammates explain a possible answer before entering it. Someone without the phone may have another helpful observation. This gives the whole team a role rather than leaving each decision to one person while everyone else follows the device.

Which chase and exploration options can you compare?

The Bremen Syndicate (outdoor escape game) also passes the Kunsthalle, tracking Magnus and the stolen formulas from Marktplatz past Bremer Dom to St.-Martini-Kirche. You see Bremer Marktplatz, St.-Martini-Kirche and Schlachte along its route. It is an outdoor escape game through the streets. Another choice is Secrets of Bremen, starting on the Markt and leading down Böttcherstraße with puzzles and photo tasks. Choose it for varied exploration tasks; for the Kunsthalle, Sherlock and The Syndicate are the named passing routes. Agree on your preferred shared story before setting out together.

What do you need before playing?

The listed Bremen games cost €19.95 per team and take 1.5 to 2 hours. Up to four players share one phone for Secrets and Sherlock, or up to five for The Syndicate. All three use the free Loquiz app. Choose and prepare your team phone before heading out. You can start whenever you want, every day, and your purchase is valid for twelve months.
